Can you help me with a rice cooker problem?
My roommate used a spoon and fork to mix and scoop rice from my rice cooker and now the non-stick lining inside is wearing away and you can actually see the bare metal.
Should I still be using it? Is there any way to fix it without buying a new rice cooker?
I live in Japan and the prices for rice cookers are ridiculous. No one sells a simple 20 dollar rice cooker here. At least not that I’ve ever seen.
I think it is alright to keep using it.
There are some options I can think of.
1. Buy a new inner pot
Most brands sell replacement parts, such as inner pot, inner lid and measuring cup.
It costs about 4,000 to 12,000 yen depending on the brand or model of your rice cooker.
It is not cheap but better than buying a new whole rice cooker.
2. Use cookware repairing company
I found a website of cookware repairing company (though it is in Japanese).
According to its website, it costs 1,600 to 4,000 yen depending on the size of the inner pot.
3. Use Non-Stick Cookware Repair Spray
I haven’t used the spray, so I’m not sure if it is worth trying or not..
