Has anyone used hair extensions to “thicken and lengthen” their thin and fine hair?
I’m getting married and am stressing out about the hair style to do. I have very baby fine hair and it is thin as well. It does not hold curl even after using a whole can of hair spray! lol I will use a head piece with my veil and was thinking about getting hair extensions to make my hair thicker to be able to do a partial up-do and leave some down in back. If any one has ever used the real hair extensions (not the clip in one) please give me advice positive or negative. Thanks!
I also have very fine hair. Two years ago when our daughter was getting married I got the sewn in waft extensions. I knew that if it rained on my daughter’s wedding day or if it was humid – my hair would go straight and flat. I am always at the mercy of the weather.
I go to a salon where they have an extension specialist. First, I had to order the human hair wafts. They come from Beverly Hills, Ca. This cost $350.00.. Then had a 4 hour appointment with my stylist two weeks before the wedding. The wafts are sewn in to a very section of your hair that is braided into a very fine braid under one or in my case two layers of hair. The result was amazing!!! I had the thick hair I always wanted and dreamed of. You can wash your hair, curl it, brush and blow dry it. No one knew that I had them except for the people I told. Since my hair is so fine, I could never really grow it much past my chin, so the extensions allowed me to add a little more length. The sewn in extensions can last for up to 9 months if cared for properly, but you have to go back about every 8 weeks to have them taken out and a resewn into a new braid as your hair grows. The downside with the sewn in extensions is that you really can’t do updo’s. Maybe you can, but I’m not sure how. I had the wafts taken out, and for about a year now I’ve been getting the fused in ones. These are nice and add thickness and volume to your hair as well, and you can have updos with the fused ones. However they do fall out. Usually by about 8 weeks mine are all out. The cost of the fused in ones are about 100.00, and another 175.00 for the labor. The woman who does mine usually puts about 60 to 80 strands in of about 3 shades of blonde. I’m always pleased with the result. Hope this helps.
