Portable Wear Hair Color

Portable Wear Hair Color
Is it acceptable to cosplay using your own hair?

I plan on cosplaying Minako Arisato/MShe/FeMC from the game Persona 3 Portable and I’m not sure what to do about my hair.

Her hairstyle isn’t anything really exaggerated, it’s a full ponytail with bobby pins. My hair color is already the same as hers, so dying it wouldn’t be a problem. However, I hear wearing a wig is more acceptable rather than styling your own hair. Which am I better off doing?

I really hope I get some answers. :)

Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would think it would be better to use your own hair because it would look natural. On the other hand, in most cases a wig is more likely to blend in with a costume; if your costume and accessories/gear seem to be a little exaggerated in their fabric or color – say the fabric is rough and the colors are very bright and/or look brand new – then a wig, which generally has those same traits, would probably be more appropriate for blending purposes.

In any case, consistency in your cosplay is what I would advise you to go for. If your costume moves easily around you, I imagine you can use your normal hair without issue, but if your costume is stiffer and less pliable then a wig would likely be better suited to the effort.
