Help! my 13 yr old girl is so filthy!?
I don’t think I’m a bad mother, but I feel like crying when I see my 13 year old daughter.
She’s such a beautiful girl, but refuses to shower, wash her hair or even use deodorant. She takes food into her room and leaves cups, plates and rubbish littered all over the place in there. I’ve accepted that teens can be messy with leaving clothes lying around, after all I was a teen myself once, but the hygiene has me more concerned than ever, I mean, can’t she smell it? Her hair is greasy, I’ve got the most expensive shampoo and conditioner, I’ve bought her body and under arm deodorants to encourage her to smell pretty.
With her room there is now mould growing on her clothes!
Today I found her wet swimmers in a plastic bag and the spores of mould appearing on the inside of the bag.. the smell is lethal! She even has a lollipop stuck to the floor..
I painted her room for her last year a pretty lilac (she chose the colour) as a way of inspiring her to a cleaner room. But to no avail..
Talk to her about health problems that may occur if you don’t shower, and it’s a given fact that if yo don’t wash your hair it could become like dredlocks. My cousin had the same problem, tell her why she should shower,(obvious reasons too.) and be more STRICT w/ her. She’ll learn to clean herself up. With the room problem, be more strict too,threaten to take away the things that are important to her(example: T.V. , video games, fav. books etc.) if she doesn’t clean up her room or just keep your mouth shut, silent treatment (litterally) until she decides to clean her room and keep it clean. ALWAYS works w/ my cousin.
