C++ programming – ‘for loops’?
What are the steps that this program does to get the output?

The output in the program is;

3689 but I don't understand the steps the program has gone through to obtain this output :'(

Thank you for your replies. I understand now how it works, however, if i = 3, then surely the equation after "if (i % 2 == 0) " namely j = 3 * j + 2 would not execute, as 3 % 2 != 0??

This is an integer variable, initialised with a value of 2
for (int i = 0; i <= 5; i++)
This "for" loop will iterate as long as i is less than or equal to 5, so it will iterate 6 times, since i is being incremented by 1 each iteration.
cout << j << " " << endl;
j is output
j = 2 * j + 3;
Surely, you understand arithmetic.
if ( i % 2 == 0)
j = 3 * j + 2;
The modulo operator (%) returns the remainder of a division, learn about it.
If this is true then, the j = 3 * j + 2; is executed.
