What is currently included in the at&t self install kit and do you need anything else?
(it would be great if someone who recently switched to at&t could answer) and do you need a desktop or could you get dsl with only a laptop
The kit includes:
- the wireless router/modem (that they call an “office gateway”),
- 4 DSL-Phone line filters,
- a power supply (of course)
- a phone cable
- and I think an Ethernet cable.
Setting it up is a piece of cake. Connect the WAN port on the router to your phone line (use the filter with the 2 ports on it if you use a phone in the same jack). Connect your computer’s Ethernet port to one of the router’s LAN ports and then try to access the Internet. You will be re-directed to AT’&T’s web site where you will register your email and stuff like that.
Any computer will work. You can connect to the router with Ethernet to configure the wireless if you want or you cab use the default setup where the SSID and WPA password are on a sticker on the router.
