I want a recipe for a saffron flavored east indian desert?

My wife had a east indian desert that was flavored with saffron and was light yellow in color. She said it had a texture like wet sponge cake. But that was not quite correct. She also said it was almost a moose texture. Please let me know what you think it might be. We would like to know what it was and how to make it.
