Yes, the salon should always offer them, however I find that they charge a tremendous amount. Hair plus application will cost anywhere from $600 and can go up to $1000 depending on the hair and brand. This is what I suggest to my clients who are not in the same state as us. Purchase your hair separately, this way you know what you are getting, and not over paying for the hair.
You will need I-Tip hair strands. How many will depend on your own hair. If your own hair is thin, then 70-100 strands in more than enough. if you have average hair, then 120-170 strands. If you have thick hair, then you will need anywhere from 180-220 strands 
You can then check your local classifieds or craigs list services and type in hair extensionist or hair extension artist. You will most likely be able to find someone certified and qualified who will charge a tiny fraction of the price of a salon. By doing it this way, the whole process will cost only $350 – $450 depending on the work needed to do your hair.
