Dyeing a Human Hair Wig—what’s the best method?
Hi!
I’m making a very detailed costume and need a long white wig that has some body and isn’t made of cheap synthetic hair (like all wigs made specifically for costumes seem to be).
I haven’t been able to find any nice wigs in the right color/style, so I was thinking of buying a light blonde human hair wig and bleaching/toning it white (or as close as I can get it) …
I’ve never worked with wigs before so I don’t know if this is a crazy/terrible idea. If anyone has any advice on the process and the best products to use, I’d really appreciate it!
I know human hair wigs are expensive, but I don’t know what else to do and I don’t want to spend a ton of time making a costume only to have it ruined by a gross fakey looking wig.

I would say the easiest way to go about doing this would be also buy a mannequin head and pin the wig into the foam. Then, go about dying it just like you would a person, since it is real human hair.
