Brunette wanting to go mostly blonde (highlights). Help!?
I have dark brown hair… well, it has a slight red tint to it, but it’s mainly just plain old brown. I want to do some blonde and have found a picture. It’s Ashley Tisdale, I think. Anyway– it’s how I would like my hair… maybe with a few more brown pieces, but what should I tell the stylist I want? To me it looks like there are at least 3 different colors here and every time I just say “blonde highlights”, they do that crazy perfectly symmetrical chunky stuff that I hate.

I’m a hairstylist…and I myself hate those “symmetrical chunky stuff”. I like doing soft and natural. Tell your hairstylist you want a mixture of blondes, so it looks as natural as possible. Tell them you’d prefer to have your hair foiled in weaves rather than chunks or slices. And preferably a couple of different blondes put into your hair…like a light golden and a darker blonde. That way the blondes contrast and compliment each other, while still keeping some of your natural. Hope this helps.
