i am a 13 year old boy who is trying to build muscle any tips?
this is my plan so far if it is wrong can you improve it?
workout (i dont have any weights)
80 pushups
100 situps
2 sets of 40 reps Lunges
2 sets of 30 reps jacknifes
2 sets of Torso and waist twists
2 sets of 45 reps squats
80 arm extensions
My rest days are Monday and Friday because i do Games in school
Diet- 1780calories
Breakfast-vitality cereal with Milk
Break- Banana and mini pepporami stick
Lunch- Ham Sandwich, Apple, Cheese string and mini pepporami stick and 1/2 a glass of semi-skimmed milk
Snack- Glass of Semi-skimmed Milk
Tea- whatever my parents make
Snack- depends on how big of a tea i have
That sounds fine for a start. We can’t really tell you how to improve because we don’t know your limits. Simple enough, try that plan and if you’re tired stick with it until you start to feel like it’s getting easy and then increase the reps, or decrease them and do another set.
At your age (and I don’t mean to sound condescending, I know people hate it when anything starts with “at your age,”) you don’t need to worry about heavy lifting. If you get weights keep them light and your reps up. The chance of injury is a lot greater with heavier weights because your body is still developing. And if it’s appearance you’re after, doing more reps with a lighter weight is better anyway as you’ll look cut rather than bulky.
Do try to get some jogging time in there too. I usually suggest a 20 minute goal rather than distance. Doing that three times a week will help your overall fitness, heart rate, and lung function.
Last tips: Get some fish in your diet if you can stomach it. It’s great for protein which will help your muscles develop and reduce the time it takes for them to repair after a workout (you won’t feel sore as long). And increase your calories overall. With that much exercise you should be over 2000 calories a day intake.
